The University of Southampton: A Place of Refuge
This exhibition explores the lives of eight European refugees who fled persecution in the 1930s and 1940s, settling in Great Britain and eventually establishing academic careers at the university of Southampton. You will encounter distinguished scholars from disciplines ranging from Politics to Chemistry, History to Physics, Medicine to Maths and Law to Engineering, and discover just how significant a contribution refugees made to the early development of the university across a wide variety of fields.
