Why is keeping healthy so tough for some of us, but seems easy for others? And why is it that the so-called 'non-communicable' diseases like cardiovascular disease and diabetes still account for about 75% of deaths around the world, despite all the efforts of doctors and health care systems? Are we missing something?

Some of the answers lie in how our bodies are put together during our first 1,000 days, from conception until age two. This affects how we will respond to the world we will live in - from daily stresses and strains, the food we eat, and how well we sleep, to the exercise we take.

Our Human Development & Health scientists can't wait to chat to you about these topics! Come and play our game of Giant Kerplunk! or sit down and join a crafted-based 'Build a Baby' workshop! Discover some surprising facts about the way the unborn baby is growing inside the mother's womb and how this can be affected by signals from the world around it.

Exchange ideas with our scientists about these 'secrets' of early development which could empower us to give the next generation the gift of a good start to life and future health.
