This exhibit, presented by researchers from the Dynamics Group within the Institute of Sound & Vibration Research, demonstrates how railway-induced vibration affect noise in buildings using a LEGO model. It occupies an area of about 2 by 1 meters and consists of a LEGO train track with several battery-powered trains running in loops, passing underneath two LEGO buildings, one mounted on vibration isolation and one without. Sensors in the buildings detect vibration and convert it into audible sound for participants to hear, highlighting the importance of vibration control in reducing noise and protecting structures near railways.
