How many of you know what autonomous vehicles are? How autonomous do you think they really are? What are the key factors that will allow autonomous vehicles to appear on the roads? And how is this related to Netflix suggesting a movie you don't like?

To answer all these questions, join this live talk with PhD students from the MINDS (Machine Intelligence for Nano-electronic Devices and Systems) CDT (Centre for Doctoral Training) at the University of Southampton.

We will discuss the history of human interaction with means of transport and the present state of autonomous vehicles to stimulate debate about what is desirable for the future.

We will introduce artificial intelligence and machine learning as a means to create a collaboration between users and the autonomous systems to improve the trust and safety of the systems in the decision making. That being a decision about which movie to watch next or whether to stop on the traffic light.
