
More than Maps: How can studying people help to solve environmental problems? - Introduction to Google Earth Engine

In this part one out of two workshops, early career researchers at the School of Geography and Environmental Science, Faculty of Social Science at the University of Southampton, will provide you with an introduction to social science methods in the context of environmental change.
The workshop will use examples from the Sargassum seaweed influxes experienced in the Caribbean and West Africa since 2011 to increase your confidence in using environmental mapping methods.
All software and methods used are freely available to the public.
Workshop 1: Introduction to Google Earth Engine
Tuesday 15th March, from 18:00 GMT
A 2.5 hours online workshop to learn what Google Earth Engine is, what remote sensing is, and how you can use them to detect environmental change using freely available data. To participate, you will need a personal computer or laptop.
Don't forget also to also sign up for the second workshop on Thursday 17th March, to learn about stakeholder analysis!
This event will take place online, on Zoom.
