Electric Vehicles: Charging Stations of the Future
Electric vehicles are a key element of a future net-zero transport system, crucially producing zero exhaust emissions or particulates, however they require renewable energy electricity generation to ultimately supply clean recharging energy. Concerns are often raised regarding the lack of recharging infrastructure and the resulting range anxiety. The UK Government has set out targets for the roll-out of EV charging points, however this requires ready and fast access to new electricity grid connections, and this is proving to be a significant hurdle. The FEVER project addresses these concerns by developing an unique off-grid, 100% renewable energy EV charging station, based around the use of renewable energy and novel hybrid energy store, that avoids the need for a grid connection.
