DESCRIPTION:Poetic Science is a joint initiative between the University of Southampton's Public Engagement with Research unit (PERu) and John Hansard Gallery. Now in its fifth year, the programme invites research scientists, post-doctoral researchers, students and community-citizen scientists working across a range of science disciplines and contexts, to take part in a series of creative writing and performance sessions bringing together science and poetry. The sessions are led and facilitated by acclaimed writer Dr Helen Eastman. 
Final works of poetry will be presented by the Poetic Science 5 cohort including research scientists and fellows, post-doctoral researchers and PhD students. In partnership with John Hansard Gallery and the Public Engagement with Research unit (PERu), a fifth cohort of researchers working across a range of science disciplines at the University of Southampton have taken part in an exciting and dynamic project which brings science and poetry together. 

Poetic Science aims to foster an environment of multidisciplinarity, supporting postgraduate students, post-docs, and researchers in the sciences to develop creative engagement and communication techniques about their research through poetry.
