Due to an exceptional high demand, all 1,000 SOTSEF Activity Packs have now been allocated and are on their way to schools, youth groups, and families all over the country.

If you represent a UK school or youth group meeting Widening Participation criteria (high numbers of PP, FSM, care experienced, estranged, or SEND students; students' home postcodes in POLAR4 Q-2 or IMD Q1-2), you may be eligible to receive KS2-3 resources through our #UoSActivityPacks programme - contact the SUP team for more information.

Lockdown has shifted how we reach out to young people, with the majority of engagement work moving online. Yet in a survey from the Sutton Trust, 34% of parents of 5 to 16-year-olds in the UK said their child did not have their own laptop, computer, or tablet with which to access the internet from home.

Building on their successful #UoSActivityPacks programme, the School-University Partnership (SUP) team created 1,000 SOTSEF Activity Packs, each containing a mix of self-contained offline SOTSEF activities for those with no internet access at all - and resources for making the most of the digital Festival for those with limited internet access e.g. on a phone.

What's included

Each pack includes:
  • Everything you need to make your own Top Trumps Women in Science cards;
  • 4 x Nutriskills nutrition, food and wellbeing packs - each containing a recipe, a game or activity and a collectible card;
  • Activity Pack Guidebooks - how to turn your favourite festival activity into your own science project and even a CREST Award;
  • Activities from Winchester Science Centre, the British Ecological Society, and the UK's National Space Centre;
  • Pens, paper, dinosaur pencil & eraser, pencil sharpener, ruler, dice, wool/yarn, key chain torch, and child-friendly/safety scissors (suitable for both left-handed and right-handed users)

We are working with our national Widening Participation Partners IntoUniversity and Brilliant Club to make these packs available to families all over the UK.
